CIRFA seminar 26 april, 14:00-15:00
CIRFA welcomes you to a seminar where Line Steinbakk from Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) presents the KSAT oil spill detection service.
Speakers
Line Steinbakk – Director Programs
Jon Christian Richards – Quality Manager -TEOS
Ole Morten Karlsen – Remote Sensing Specialist
KSAT provides near real time oil spill detection services to clients worldwide. The service is derived from a comprehensive portfolio of Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) satellites where data is acquired from a network of ground stations, transferred to Tromsø for processing and finally assessed by our 24/7 team of experienced analysts. Information shall be made available to clients in less than 20 minutes after satellite acquisition. To meet these strict requirements KSAT has set up an advanced service chain including a dedicated analysis tool. Despite the high level of automation in the service chain – the analysis is still manual.
KSAT will present the oil service and the method we are using to identify and characterize oil slicks. We will also present the Earth Capture (EC) – our analysis tool developed in collaboration with the QT company.
