Dear CIRFA Team and friends, we welcome you to tomorrow`s talk by Adam Steer about “Filling in the gaps – using small drones to add context in sea ice research“.

Summary/short bio: Dr. Adam Steer is a cryosphere generalist with a long history in high resolution sea ice research. It started with operational snow science qualifications, then moved to research with analysis of aerial images over Antarctic sea ice, then to airborne lidar and pioneering structure from motion photogrammetry over sea ice. In Norway he’s part of the Nansen Legacy Project, focussed on sea ice physical characteristics in the northern Barents Sea and Arctic Basin. With now close to 50 process stations combined from both hemispheres, Adam has seen a lot of sea ice. And when he’s not at work, he goes back to the roots – ski touring and understanding another part of solid-state water cycle.
