With large marine areas and one of the world`s longest coast lines, Norway has a strong focus on marine environment and industries, even in the fragile ecosystems of ice-covered waters.
In Arctic waters, sea ice, icebergs and rough weather conditions are common while observations are scarce and forecasts uncertain. Satellite data is a growing global source of information for societal, business and environmental applications. CIRFA is using this resource to develop new knowledge and technology in satellite remote sensing, data analyses and modelling.
