Sea ice lecture for NASA
NASA’s Applied Remote Sensing Training Program (ARSET) has opened a new open, online webinar series: SAR for Detecting and Monitoring Floods, Sea Ice, and Subsidence from Groundwater Extraction
Malin Johansson from CIRFA/UiT The Arctic University of Norway will be lecturing on the use of SAR to detect and monitor sea ice.
Course Dates: October 24, 31, & November 1, 2023
Time: 11:00 -13:00 EDT (UTC-4)
To Register: https://go.nasa.gov/3EO9rMN
Learning Objectives:
By the end of this training attendees will be able to:
- Generate subsidence maps due to groundwater extraction to inform risk and resource management
- Detect and monitor sea ice to identify potential risks to shipping and coastal erosion
- Detect and monitor floods in order to more closely monitor increase/recession of flood waters and better inform disaster response and management
Audience: This training is primarily intended for disaster management agencies, including domestic and international government agencies, aid organizations, indigenous communities, students, and academics.
Course Format: Three 2-hour parts including Q&A.
